A head of hair is basically made up of protein (keratin). To prevent further hair loss in women and men, they should be more mindful of their scalp. Each strand of hair neither has a nervous system nor blood supply, hence incapable of reparative activities. It is the scalp that has the abilities absent in the hair. Taking care of the scalp is the key to having a healthy head of hair.
Massaging the scalp promotes blood circulation in the head and aids the hair follicles in growing hair. Massaging the scalp also soothes the muscles and relaxes the nerves, relieving stress in a way. Stress is also noted to be a cause of hair loss. The appropriate way of massaging the scalp is by placing your fingertips directly on the scalp, burying them beneath the strands to prevent force that can break the strands.
